In keeping with our mission to “seek to promote an interest in gardening and to beautify the landscape of our community” the Lombard Garden Club is recognizing individual home owners who have added to the beauty of our village by making their front yards especially attractive.
We invite everyone in Lombard to participate in the "Contribute to the Beauty of Lombard" event. Residents are encouraged to nominate their own or a neighbor’s front yard garden for recognition.
Eligible are front yard gardens on properties with Lombard addresses. We are looking for especially attractive use of plants. As gardens change throughout the season our selection is on-going. Twenty gardens will be chosen each month for this honor.
Addresses of properties for nomination can be submitted through this website by using the Contact Us form on this website. List your name and then in the Message Box leave the address and owner's name of the front yard you are recommending. Or, you can call 630-620-7517 and leave the information there. Nominations can be made beginning May 4 and continue through September.
A club representative will notify owners of the selected properties and offer them the opportunity to have a recognition sign placed in their yard. In addition that they may be featured on our website or facebook page and in local media. The signs will remain on display for one month.
Members of the committee are Lombard Garden Club President, Cynthia Ward; Membership and Hospitality Co-Chairman, Barbara Madigan; Evening Horticulture Group Chairman, Diana Fries; Civic Chairman, Mary Beth Lynch; Publicity Chairman, Jean Jeske; and Conservation and Environment Chairman, Karen Brittain.
